September is finally posted!

It took a while to gather all the pictures from this full month. I think I still left out a bunch, but if you're interested, click here for my reflection on September.

Thankful to live in the Southwest

This is documentation of the worst snow storm in our area in many, many years. Most people said when/if it snows here, it is usually not enough to stick until the next morning. Remember my other blog with snow (click on the "blog with snow" to tickle your memory)? Well, this is the following morning. The entire city shut down for hours (many businesses for the entire day) because there was ice on the bridges and people could not get to work. Compared to the storm in the Northeast, I will take this one! (Although we can't go 'boarding in this kind of snow . . . hmmm . . . may have to reconsider.)

Mixed Feelings

Dave misses Vermont, and was excited to hear about this storm his parents documented. He wishes he could have been there--a true Vermonter! While we do miss his family, I am thankful to have missed the 25.3" of snow (a record for a 24-hour period, surpassing one set in 1934). Brrr!

Having Fun

We've been playing around with some features of our photo programs. Dave might kill me for posting some of them. I just think they are fun. :)

Makana is singing, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" for you and conducting other songs. Her two arms up in the air proclaim, "Hallelujah!"

38 and going strong

Last month I turned 38, and it was a great birthday! Thank you to all who called and wished me a good day, for it indeed was one. Thanks, Lisa, for my scrapbooking supplies; Mary and Ing clan for the scrapbooking magazine; Donna, Tony, AJ, and Dominic for the cutest matching fleece jackets for Makana and me; and Serra for taking me out and also greatly enhancing my scrapbooking collection. :)

Dave, Makana, and I had a leisurely day, for Dave usually has Mondays off. We were able to hang out, eat at our favorite Greek restaurant in town (sorry, Turkish friends!), go hiking and shopping. At the end of the day we thought we were going to eat the the Macaroni Grill, but when we arrived and were seated immediately, we waited 40+ minutes to no avail. NO ONE even so much as greeted us! We left, taking the menus to the hostesses and telling them we were leaving and why. They asked us if we wanted another table. No, for Makana was getting sleepy. They just giggled. That was that.

We returned home, and I gave Makana a bath and then cooked dinner.

It was still a great birthday, and I thank God for a wonderful day to celebrate the life he's given me. :)

A Visit to Louisville 2007

We were going non-stop while we were in Louisville, trying to catch up with as many people as possible. These are but a few memories of the meetings we had with our beloved friends and brothers. :) Unfortunately, sometimes we were too engrossed in coversation or just plain forgot the camera to document all of our visits. :( We love you all, though, and hope to see you again soon!

Thank you, Michael LeCompte, for calling Melodie in Spain and letting me talk with her. I truly miss our BCM people a ton! As I mentioned to some people, I felt at home walking into the BCM building and finding it the same dark, delapitated, poor use of space place. Somehow, it feels like home.

We were encouraged by our church, Crossroads to the Nations, and pray for you regularly. It was great to see familiar faces at our Sunday gathering, even with visitors from the BCM staff! We are sorry we weren't able to spend time individually with each of you; perhaps God will avail us that opportunity sometime again on this side of heaven. :)

It was fun to see Makana interact with all the people who love her. We realized, though, after returning, that she was running on tired mode. She slept on the two legs of the flight on the way back and had more naps after we came home. She is, in our humble opinion, the world's best traveling baby. :)

We're back! :)

We came home on Friday from a great visit to Louisville. We had a wonderful time introducing Makana to many people who have prayed for us to have her join our family. Especially excited to meet her were her to uncles: Jon and Johnny. Although we haven't downloaded our pics from our camera, we have a few from our visit to the seminary's PR office where Dave was the photographer. These pics are courtesy of John Gill. Thanks, John! :) Oh, and thanks to another John for the Hermie (caterpillar)! :) Uncle Johnny was captivated by his niece (click on the "niece" for an interview with her)! He also took some pictures when we arrived and a little later.
